Courting Tandem Dulcimer

Named for its use in the parlor or on a porch during a couple's days of courtship, the Courting (or Tandem) dulcimer is essentially two dulcimers put together to make one instrument.  It was played on the laps of the couple while facing one another, each having their own fretboard and headstock mounted on a very wide body.  The June Apple and Poplar Hill models (in the woods noted) can be combined to make Courting dulcimers.  This model makes a wonderful wedding gift or the ideal instrument for couples who both play the mountain dulcimer.
